MAN WHO SET HIS WIFE ON FIRE FOR GOSSIPING IN HOT SOUP

A 37 year old driver was charged in a Nairobi court on Wednesday with trying to kill his wife by setting her ablaze.

Peter Njine was accused of dousing his wife, Tabitha Waweru, with petrol and setting her ablaze before locking her inside their house to burn to death. This is because he found her gossiping with other women on February 14 this year outside their house in Pipeline Estate.

Neighbours heard her cry and saw a huge smoke coming from the house. They rushed, broke the door down and put out the fire.

Tabitha was taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and was later transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment.

Njine was released on a Sh200, 000 bail after he denied the charges and the case postponed to March 23.
