A 38-year-old man who stabbed his lover to death on Sunday at her employer’s home in Kimende town, Lari Sub-County, has been arrested.
David Maara was found yesterday morning trying to hang himself on a tree by local residents who followed him after he disappeared into a bush.
Maara killed Hannah Wairimu who was his lover and cousin after she insisted on ending the relationship because it was incest. He ambushed her at 6am while she was preparing tea and stabbed her before dragging her body and dumping it next to her employer’s perimeter wall.
Lari divisional police boss, Alfred Makoma, confirmed the arrest and said that residents saw him being dropped by a taxi near his home only for him to disappear into a bush yesterday.
He was taken to Rukuma Health Centre where he was treated and discharged and is currently locked up at the Lari Police Station as investigations continue.
