Eliud Owalo writes to the UN demanding that Kenya be sanctioned

Eliud Owalo has written to the International Community to punish Kenya and Uhuru/ Ruto’s Government over the new security laws.

In a letter to the UN and other global financial institutions, Owalo, who is a Nairobi based consultant and Raila’s close confidante, appealed to the International Community to impose political and economic sanctions on Kenya to teach Uhuru/ Ruto a lesson for enacting punitive laws, which he termed as draconian and retrogressive.

Owalo argues that the National Assembly unprocedurally and forcibly passed the security laws without subjecting them to full public participation and scrutiny as required by law.

“I am appealing to you to come in as agents of necessity by imposing political and economic sanctions against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government to occasion the forestalling of the new security laws,” said Owalo.

“The Bill was hurriedly passed despite strong opposition within and outside the House,” he added.

He addressed the letter to EU, AU, United Nations Security Council, World Bank, IMF, International Human Rights Agency, International Press Institute and United Nations High Commission for Human Rights.
